Beckhoff Automation L.L.C. has introduced the C6670 industrial server, a product line that enables “many-core machine control.”
Beckhoff said the C6670 is a top-performance PC-based solution that can be equipped with 12, 24 or 36 processor cores, and its memory can be expanded from 64 gigabytes up to 2 terabytes. The immense computing power within the C6670 series can be used most effectively when each individual core is efficiently leveraged with the TwinCAT 3.1 automation software platform from Beckhoff, the company added.
Additionally, the “many-core control” concept as demonstrated in the C6670 industrial server line personifies the company’s consistent and long-term philosophy of centralized control with integrated scientific automation, the company claimed.
With TwinCAT 3.1 Beckhoff said is possible to utilize all available processor cores optimally by distributing individual control tasks among them. Beckhoff said with the development of the C6670, it delivers the benefits of many-core technology to machine control projects.
The C6670 is the first industrial server offered from Beckhoff Automation. It can be used in complex applications, such as highly articulated robotics and advanced image processing, the company said. Designed for control cabinet installation, the C6670 server incorporates two Intel Xeon processors, each with 6, 12 or 18 cores, working together on a motherboard with two gigabit Ethernet controllers and a graphics card.

Dow Automotive Systems has released three specialty adhesives that provide environmental and cost benefits when bonding elastomeric materials to metal, engineering plastics or other elastomers.
Dow said the Megum 5386 is a high-performance cover coat adhesive suited for bonding soft and difficult-to-bond elastomers. Bonds using Megum 5386 are extremely resistant in high temperature applications, boiling water, salt fog and various hydraulic fluids. The adhesives, Dow claims, have resistance to glycol and can get higher reactivity at lower dry film thickness, so customers can use less product than competitive materials to achieve comparable performance, also reducing volatile organic compounds.
Dow also introduced the Thixon P-21 and Thixon 526, the next-generation primer and cover coat system provides outstanding performance at competitive cost, the company said, with a REACH-compliant (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals) octyl-phenol-free primer formula. The primer and cover products can be used together or separately.
Thixon P-21 primer enables primer standardization and consolidation and meets key industry performance requirements, the company said. Dow offers low viscosity and said it needs less solvent for spraying. Thixon 526 cover coat offers well-balanced performance and enables cover standardization and consolidation with good boiling water, heat and pre-bake resistance, Dow said.
