PMI declined slightly as economic operation remained steady

Last Saturday, National Bureau of Statistics of China (NBS) and China Federation of Logistics & Purchasing jointly announced China Purchasing Manager Index (PMI) of Feb. According to the statistics, PMI of Feb. was 50.2%, dropped by 0.3% compared with the last month. China Federation of Logistics & Purchasing pointed out that some factories reduced or stopped the production during Spring Festival holidays, which caused the PMI decline to some extent. At present, main index of new orders and outputs remain 50% and higher than the same period last year. From a comprehensive view, the current situation remained steady and increased within a reasonable growth range.
By analyzing 12 indicators, compared with last month, the index of manufactured inventory, along with delivery time of the supplier and operating activities is expected to rise; among them, the index of operating activities picked up by 10.5% while other indexes declined with different degrees, in which the new export order, amount purchased as well as the import and raw material dropped over 1%.
